Dr. Zachary Bissell
Dr. Zack Bissell, owner and medical director of Sandbridge Veterinary Center, graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and gained experience at the university's Veterinary Teaching Hospital. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and returned to practice with his mentor before settling in Jacksonville in 2006. A USDA-accredited veterinarian, Dr. Bissell is a member of the Jacksonville Veterinary Medical Society, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and American Veterinary Medical Association. His professional interests include internal medicine, preventative care, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery, with a commitment to delivering high-quality, individualized patient care.

I have seen Dr. Bissell and Dr. Cunningham now and I like them both. Very knowledgeable and caring. Relaxed when it comes with kids and pets. The office is clean. Appointments are fairly easy to get when you need one. You may have to wait a minute to be seen sometimes but that’s because they really take their time to evaluate the animal and explain everything to the owner. They explain pricing prior to service so that you aren’t shocked at the end like I have experienced in the past.

We really love the boarding and the veterinarian office. Dr. Bissell is fantastic!! He is very knowledgeable and really cares for the dogs. Dr. Bissell is a wonderful Veterinarian. Ifound him when I had my last dog, and I will never forget his kindness when it was her time. I knew when I got my new pup exactly where to take her. He is very compassionate and thorough. He is great about communicating with his pet parents which is so important when I’m worried.

I took my elderly dog for his first visit today, and the whole staff was so kind and welcoming! Dr. Cunningham was thorough, but efficient and took time to discuss several different routes for treatment. She even let my daughter(who loves all things medical) listen to his heart through her stethoscope. And the cherry on top of a wonderful visit - my daughter brought a toy dinosaur that Dr. Cunningham took time to examine and bandage. Can’t recommend enough!

So grateful for the team at Sandbridge Veterinary. I am not one to write many reviews; but this morning they fit my son’s sweet cat, Diego, in first thing in the morning. Diego is usually a thriving happy kitty, but has lately not been his normal self and has shown severe signs of illness. Dr. Cunningham, Amy and the entire team there were wonderful and compassionate - bearing with me as I got emotional at times. We are not sure of Diego’s prognosis just yet - but, I rest a little easier knowing he is in such good hands.
